thinking about a mechanic that could be interesting
hey all, willow here
ive been thinking about a new mechanic for my game that could be interesting
so in my game, when you attack an enemy it lets out battery power that you can steal for yourself (if youre close enough!!!). collected battery power is stored in an "electricity gauge" (hud element right next to the main health icon) where it can then be used for healing. but right now, the only thing the whole electricity gauge thing really does for the game is it makes healing manual, it doesnt do anything besides that.
this is where the actual "new mechanic" i was thinking about comes in
i call it overclocking. its a mode that shortens cooldowns, and lets the player move quicker and take less damage.
if you have enough electricity in the gauge, you can enter overclocked mode. it removes a set amount of power from the gauge, and a new hud element appears that represents the power taken with a meter. that meter slowly depletes and once its out, overclock mode ends and the player is put on cooldown. the player has the option to end overclock mode early, in which case whatever power is leftover will be returned to the gauge and a cooldown will be set. and during overclock mode, any power that would normally go to the electricity gauge for healing is instead directly transferred to health automatically, so the player wont have to stop and manually heal like they would normally
i dont know, could that work? it sounds like something that could be interesting. what do yall think (if anyone even sees this lol)
anyways yeah thats all, cya guys
